S3 Graphics has announced its latest products in the Chrome-series, the Chrome 400 Ultra Low Power GPUs. The new family of products consists of three new GPUs, namely the Chrome 440 ULP, 435 ULP and 430 ULP and they're all built in 65nm and will provide DirectX 10.1 support with a TDP of no more than 7W, which makes them perfect candidates for the ultra-mobile PCs and laptops.

All three of new GPUs will support S3's ChromotionHD Video Engine for hardware video acceleration and S3's PowerWise technology for power management. The specifications for thesse new GPUs are scarce, but S3 has listed that the 440 ULP, or the high end part, will use GDDR3 memory. The Chrome 435 ULP is limited to DDR2 memory and it as well as the 440 ULP comes with support for HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort, while the specs for the 430 ULP are a mystery for now.

According to the press release, these new parts are already shipping to OEMs, but the only name that was mentioned was Fujitsu. If these statements are true we should be able to expect netbooks and laptops with these GPUs pretty soon.
