Popularity continues to increase

The popularity of Forza 3 from Turn 10 studios continues to meet developer expectations, and may in some aspects exceed what was expected, according to our sources. Our sources tell us that the latest AutoWeek downloadable car pack was again well received, and while we don’t know exactly what the sales numbers were versus the Holiday downloadable car park, Forza 3 has done well enough that additional downloadable car packages are on the horizon for the title.

In the short term, however, additional gift cars will be released for those who purchase the Limited Edition version of Forza 3 and should start arriving in about a week. One of the gift cars that are expected for those Limited Edition players is said to be a special edition of an American muscle car that was in the Forza 3 videos shown during E3 last year. All players will be given the special AutoWeek Saleen Raptor that was winner of the livery content.

In addition, all players will soon get matchmaking game types. Some additional multiplayer modes are on the horizon, including the “Last Car Standing” mode, which is a full-contact game mode. From the whispers that we hear, this mode is currently in testing and should arrive in the coming weeks along with some additional modes.

The one thing that many Forza 3 players continue to wonder about is if there will be any additional track content for the game. While our sources tell us that Turn 10 is working on it, no additional details have been thrown our way on what this might be. A rumor suggests that a track pack is being looked at for release when the racing season starts, so it is likely going to be a couple of months before we know anything more about it and get a solid confirmation from the folks at Turn 10 that it is actually going to happen. Keep your fingers crossed on this one.
