WB starts development of new video game

The rumors of Warner Bros. bringing DC super hero Green Lantern to movie theaters in 2011 now appear to be confirmed. The Green Lantern movie will star Ryan Reynolds as the hero in green, with Martin Campbell of Casino Royale in the director’s chair.

Of course, you can’t have a super hero movie without the accompanying video game, and word is Warner Bros. has already engaged developer Double Helix to start work on a Green Lantern tie-in video game for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. While we don’t know for sure whether or not they will bring the hero to other platforms, we consider the likelihood of versions for the PSP, DS, and Wii to also be possible.

The choice of Double Helix as the developer for the Green Lantern video games is a sensible choice, as the studio has experience bringing titles from both movies and TV down to consoles everywhere. While we don’t have any additional details yet, we expect to hear more around E3 as the company starts to hype the video game; but the actual movie announcement is expected at the upcoming ComicCon.
