Asus' most basic version so far

We've gotten our hands on some details of Asus' upcoming P6T X58 motherboard and it looks like it'll be the cheapest model from Asus so far and it also has the most basic features. Although, calling this board basic isn't really fair, as it still has quite a lot on offer.

The board has three x16 PCIe slots, although the third slot only offers x4 bandwidth while the other two offers the full x16 bandwidth. It also has two PCI slots and a single x1 PCIe slot. The rear I/O consists of two PS/2 ports, six USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire and eSATA port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, 7.1-channel analog audio jacks and optical and coaxial S/PDIF out.

The P6T has kept all six memory slots and it has no less than eight SATA connectors of which two are part of Asus' Drive Xpert setup. There's also a single IDE connector, three headers for six additional USB 2.0 ports and a header for one additional FireWire port.

Asus has also fitted onboard power and reset buttons and the P6T features an 8-phase power regulation setup. The X58 chipset it cooled by a heatsink and a single heatpipe, a similar setup to the P6T WS models, although the heatpipe isn't connected to the ICH10R.

We don't have a release date as yet, nor a price, but we'd expect it to be a slightly cheaper option to the P6T Deluxe.
