Only in Japan so far

We're still waiting for the Albatron KI690-AM2 mini ITX board to arrive in Europe, but it has already hit retail in Japan. It has taken Albatron quite some time to make this board retail ready and this might not even be the final iteration of the board, as the sign in Japanese on Impress lists is as a V0.8 board.

It does seem to have all the features it should have, HDMI, DVI, component video, optical and coaxial S/PDIF, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire and what not. The AMD 690G chipset might not be the best solution for HD DVD or Blu-Ray, but apart from that, this little board should power through most things.

It's just odd that VIA, the inventors of mini ITX hasn't released a product with similar features, although their CPU's might not be the most powerful around, it would've been nice to have seen something like this from VIA years ago. Sure, they have a board with DVI and component out now, but it's a little bit late in the game.

The Albatron KI690-AM2 is retailing for a very expensive €181 in Japan right now and you can have a look here for some more info from Impress and here for the Albatron product page.
