Dell releases cheap as chips Chromebook

At last one which is affordable

Dell has released a Chromebook which is actually affordable and could end up in the paws of schoolkids or businesses.

But although it is comparatively cheap, $400, it is still fairly powerful Chromebook you can actually afford.

Dell's new 13.3 inch screen has been updated to 1080p and there are collection of options you can pick and choose to get the features and jack the price up.

These include processor upgrades from the Celeron, Core i3, Core i5; Memory: 2GB, 4GB, and even 8GB; Storage: 16Gb or 32GB and a Touchscreen.

The Chromebook has a bit of metal in it which adds to the weight 3.5 lbs. The top casing has a carbon fibre, the palm rests are magnesium alloy, and the bottom is aluminium.

The Tame Apple Press is complaining that it is not a Macbook Air. But then it is fraction of the price and marginally more useful.

There is a USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, and an HDMI port which is more useful than the Air too.

The touchscreen option is a bit pointless ChromeOS isn't nearly as touch optimised as say Windows so we would not bother.

Dell's Chromebook 13 starts at $400 and goes up from there. With all the maxed out specs, you'll be looking somewhere in the $700 range.
