Acer Swift 3 with Mobile Ryzen spotted

by on21 December 2017

15.6-incher with both Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7

Following the earlier announcement, Acer has now put its Mobile Ryzen-equipped Swift 3 notebook online, suggesting these should be available soon.

Spotted originally by PC Watch and caught by Liliputing.com, the Acer Swift 3 is a 15.6-inch notebook with 1080p IPS panel, 8GB of RAM, USB 3.1 Type-C port, a couple of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output, a backlit keyboard and stereo speakers.

While HP's Envy x360 15z was the first notebook with AMD's Mobile Ryzen APU, it was only available with a slower Ryzen 5 2500U SKU. Acer, on the other hand, should have two versions of the Swift 3, one with Ryzen 5 2500U and 256GB SSD storage and one with Ryzen 7 2700U and 512GB of storage.

According to Acer's own product page, the 15.6-inch Swift 3 measures 370.5x255x18.8mm (14.59x10.04x0.74-inches) and weighs 2.2kg (4.85lbs). Both models also come with a 4-cell 3320mAh battery which should pull a decent battery life from those 15W TDP Mobile Ryzen APUs.

In case you missed it, the Ryzen 5 2500U is an SMT-enabled quad-core/twelve-thread APU working at the 2.0GHz base and 3.8GHz Turbo and features Vega 8 iGPU with 512 SPs and 1100MHz clock. The Ryzen 7 2700U is also a quad-core APU with SMT but works at slightly higher 2.2GHz base and 3.8GHz Turbo clock, and features Vega 10 iGPU with 640 SPs and 1300MHz clock.

Both models were listed on Acer's Taiwan site but we also spotted it on Acer's US site as well, where the Ryzen 5 2500 Swift 3 SKU is listed with a US 749.99 price tag.The Ryzen 7 2700U Swift 3 SKU should have a US $949.99 price tag, according to the leak. While there are no precise availability details, we expect these to show up in retail/e-tail soon.
