Gaming notebook market to become a battleground next year

by on03 December 2015

Expect prices to drop

Word on the street is that there will be a price war in the gaming notebook market next year as the big names slug it out over what is expected to be a lucrative market.

Dell and MSI have succeeded in marketing gaming notebooks in the global market while HP, Lenovo, Asustek and Acer have also been elbowing their way in.

These are exactly the conditions needed for fierce competition and a price wars in 2016.
Digitimes has been talking to its Taiwan-based supply chain makers and they are already building bunkers in their back-yards and starting to stockpile tinned goods.

They think that with South Korea and China both making e-sports a major sport category to develop, related vendors expect the global gaming player-base to dramatically increase leading to business opportunities from gaming software, hardware and peripherals.

MSI suffered losses in its motherboard business, but saw one million unit gaming notebook shipments and three million brand graphics card shipments helping to boost its profits.

All this will be good news for consumers, although it could kill off the dream that the higher margin mobile gaming computers can rescue notebooks makers bottom lines.
