Every second laptop to feature quad core CPU

Although quad-core processors have been with us for years they have failed to make much of a dent in notebook sales.

Quad-core notebooks are still relatively rare compared to total notebook shipments – they account for just 9 percent. However, the advent of cheaper and more efficient quads will help boost the market share to about 40 percent by 2015, iSuppli estimates.

In addition, six-core mobile processors will also make an appearance by the end of next year. By 2015 six core shipments could hit 18 percent
