Archos preparing its fastest G9 tablet

Archos has releassed some details regarding its upcoming update to the tablet lineup, the G9 series that will feature the 8-inch 80 G9 and the 10.1-inch 101 G9 tablets. Scheduled to appear in retail by the end of September, both tablets will be running the 1.5GHz dual-core chip and Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS.

As noted, the heart of the 80 G9 and 101 G9 will be the TI OMAP4 1.5GHz dual-core chip. The 10.1-incher will be running 1280x800 resolution while the 8-inch panel will have to stick with 1024x768. The rest of the features include 16GB of flash storage, a 250GB HDD, micro SD slot, 720p capable front camera, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11bgn WiFi, G-sensor, GPS and compass. It will come with an HDMI output, support for 1080p playback and a 3G dongle called the G9 3G stick that will be available for US $49.

Both should be available by the end of September and should hit retail with a price that starts at US $279 for the 80 G9 and US $349 for the 101 G9 device.
