Gateway shows its CULV lineup

Twelve SKUs, three models


Gateway has introduced its thin-and-light EC Series of notebooks that will feature Intel CULV processors and Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium operating systems. The three models that can be differentiated are the EC14, EC54 and EC58. All three models are around one inch thick (25mm) and feature multi-gesture touchpad, GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics with HDMI output and a 6-cell battery.

The EC14 model features a total of seven different versions with either Intel Celeron 743, SU2300 or Intel Pentium SU4100 processors. It has 0.87/1.18" x 11.22" x 8.03" (22.1/30 x 285 x 204mm) dimensions. It comes with an 11.6-inch, Ultrabright LED-backlit, 1366 x 768 resolution screen, up to 3072MB of dual-channel DDR2 667MHz memory and up to 320GB of hard drive space.

The cheapest EC14 SKU, comes with Intel Celeron 743 CPU, 2GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive and starts at US $399.99, while the most expensive one, with Untel Pentium SU4100, 3GB of memory and a 320GB hard drive sells for US $549.99.

The EC54 and the EC58 models are practically the same as they both feature a 15.6-inch, Ultrabright LED-backlit, 1366x768 screen, the same 1.01"-1.08" x 14.85" x 10" (25.7/27.4 x 377.1 x 254mm) dimensions and the only differences are the processor choice and storage capacity. The EC54 model uses Intel Pentium SU4100 processor and feature a 320GB hard drive while the EC58 model is equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 and a 500GB hard drive. All four SKUs from these two series come with 4GB of memory,

The EC54 series sells for US $649.99 while the EC58 sells at US $799.99 and both are available in two different colors with a brushed aluminium lid.

The entire lineup of these "thin-and-light" EC Series notebooks will be available on October 22nd, once Microsoft gives a green light on the Windows 7 OS. You can check out the complete list here.
