Samsung's blast from the past

Samsung has refreshed its NV series of high end compact digital cameras.

Armed with 8, 10 and 12 megapixel sensors and Schneider Kreuznach Varioplan Zoom 3X (34 - 102 mm) lenses, these retro cams are coming in September.

All three new models feature a 230k pixel 2.5" screen, an improved version of Samsung's award winning Smart Touch User Interface, faster Advanced Shake Reduction and an advanced noise reduction which supports up to ISO 3200 and a new local contrast control. Movie mode is MPEG4 in VGA resolution at 30 fps.

The new NV8

NV20 is the leader of the pack, featuring a 12 megapixel sensor and an improved image processing system. It should retail at £249.

The 10 megapixel NV15 and 8 megapixel NV8 lack the new image processing system, but retain the same optics as the NV20. They are priced at £229 and £199 respectively.

You just have to love the traditional design of both the old and new NV series models. Enough with the crazy colors, brushed metal, huge screens and chrome, everyone's got them and this is the one that turns head nowadays.
