Another small victory for VIA

A Korean company called Wibrain has unveiled a prototype VIA powered UMPC that so far goes under the name of B1. It has some rather unusual features such as a 4.8in widescreen display with 1,024x600 resolution, a touch pad and a flip up web camera.

It also features a split querty keypad, it's too small to be called a keyboard and some kind of a rotary controller. It comes with a choice of a 1GHz, 1.2GHz and a 1.6GHz VIA C7M ULV CPU and with either 512MB or 1GB of memory.

It will also be available with a choice of hard drives ranging from 30 to 80GB. Furhermore, it should have built in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and it might even have a built in quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri band HSDPA mobile data card.

It's expected to be revealed some time in September and be available in October. Prices should start at around €470-550 depending on configuration.
