Cebit 08: From €999 to €1899

MSI showcased its new series of gaming notebooks called GX. There will be differently equipped versions (610, 710, 711, etc.) and the prices will range from €999 for basic setup to €1899 for their top model.

You’ll be able to chose among Intel’s Centrino or AMD’s Turion 64 processors, and the memory will range from 1 to 4GB DDR2 at 533/667MHz. You’ll also get a choice between ATI’s (Mobility Radeon HD 2600 and 3650) and Nvidia’s graphics (GeForce 8600 M GT) with 256 or 512MB of RAM. MSI offers SATA disks from 80 to 250GB.

In order to improve your gaming experience, MSI offers 15,4 or 17 inch displays, whereas higher-end models will have 4 integrated speakers and one small subwoofer.

GX600 Extreme and Performance Edition notebooks will feature turbo buttons that enable overclocking by a simple push of a button. This, of course, boosts performance but since it might quickly deplete your battery, it doesn’t work when the notebook is not plugged into the electrical outlet. As soon as you disconnect your notebook, it’ll revert back to non-overclocked mode.
