Globalfoundries to invest $2.5 billion in 300mm facilities
Developing 22nm CMOS process
Globalfoundries is planning to spend $2.5 billion on expanding its 300mm wafer production in 2010.
The investment is part of Globalfoundries' efforts to increase its market share by 50 percent by 2012. The company plans to seize 30 percent of the foundry marked by late 2012.
The chipmaker also announced that it is developing a 22nm CMOS process. It's not clear whether this is a SOI or HGMG process, but it's clear it will be reserved for Globalfoundries' new Malta fab in New York state.
