9-inch touchscreen one

It looks like Asus is quite keen on getting its name in the e-reader market and in addition to the colour DR-570, Asus is apparently preparing another one, the DR-950. Unlike OLED DR-570, this one has a 9-inch grayscale touch screen and some features that are similar to other e-readers on the market.

The 9-inch touch screen on the DR-950 has a 1024x768 resolution and the entire device is just 9mm thick and weighs 370g. By simply looking at the design of the DR-950, it is clear that Asus is aiming at Kindle DX, and if we might notice they are on a good way to score a kill.

Other noted and revealed features include a software with RSS feeds, translation and text to speech options, 2 or 4GB of internal memory, SD card slot, WiFi and HSDPA, optional WiMAX, integrated stereo speakers, 3.5mm audio jack and USB port for side-loading.

It will support PDF, TXT, Audible, MP3, HTML, bunch of picture file formats and probably much more once it hits retail.

Unlike the OLED DR-570, we are positive that this one might come pretty soon despite the fact that the availability date or the price aren't revealed. The DR-950 should also end up to be much cheaper than the OLED DR-570.
