Prices not going down
Demand for DRAM chips may continue to grow significantly
according to Pai Pei-Lin, vice president and spokesperson of Nanya Technology.
Pai said that PC OEMS are falling over themselves to buy
DRAM and this is unlikely to stop. Nanya has reported net sales of US$174 million for
October 2009, up 24 per cent on month and 75 per cent on last year year.
The outfit still made a loss but it was significantly
less than last year. Nanya's DRAM-manufacturing joint venture with Micron
Technology, saw October revenues approach a break-even point.
Contract prices for 1Gb DDR2 and 1Gb DDR3 chips rose 15.7
per cent and 10.9 per cent, respectively, to US$2.06 and US$1.94 on
average in the latter part of October, according to latest data posted by
DRAMeXchange.
