Sony, which already cut its PlayStation 3 price by $100
U.S. dollars, is likely to cut its price again by year-end according to
U.S. media reports.
Capcom Chief Financial Officer Kazuhiko Abe said in an
interview, "the price has been cut once and it is likely to be cut again
towards the end
of the year. I expect the (PS3's) installed base to grow
gradually."
The Xbox 360 and Wii have outsold the PS3 by several times
in the crucial US market, leaving Sony, unable to catch
up.
However the PS3 is supposed to be the killer application
for Blu-Ray in the States and part of its strategy of eventually offering
downloaded high-definition movies, video games, movie trailers and
demos.
