Branding confusion expected to be cleared up

It seems that Verizon can’t decide what they will actually be calling the BlackBerry 9550, which has become known in Verizon circles as the Storm 2, or Storm2 (without the space).  The confusion over what this new devices will be called and branded has become all the more confusing when you take into account that our sources in the land of BlackBerry have always said that there would be no Storm 2, but only a Storm 9550.

No matter what the final branding ends up being, there is no question that the device is poised to be launched in the land of Verizon on October 21st from the latest whispers that we are hearing. We are still a bit in the dark as to whether this will be more of a product launch announcement or whether this is the actual day that you will be able to buy one over the counter. Odds tell us that this will likely be a soft launch, with an actual street date to be a few days after the launch announcement for Verizon.

Now, if they could just settle on the name for it, it might be helpful. We are confirming that the model isn’t going to change and it will be the 9550 for Verizon customers; but it is possible that they could promote the device as the Storm2 9550 before it is all said and done. We will just have to wait to see how things shake out. At least the users seem to know what the 9550 is, and we continue to hear that many current Storm owners are very interested in the 9550 for the number of improvements that it offers.
