According to
Digitimes, motherboard makers don't expect to see a significant rebound in desktop PC popularity, in spite of recent efforts to improve the market.

Intel recently held a summit in China and tried to come up with now strategies to revive the market, but vendors still don't believe this initiative is enough, although it could slow down the inevitable design. With the advent of ever cheaper mobile and SFF platforms, fewer people seem interested in getting a proper desktop.

It's not hard to see why. Notebook prices have dropped down to ridiculous levels, and cheap nettops and all-in-ones can easily provide most users with enough performance. What's more, they look a lot better, take up less space and don't have as many cables sticking out of them.
