A bit on the thick side
WD has started shipping the world's first 1TB 2.5-inch drive, part of the WD Scorpio Blue series, as well as a 750GB drive.
In spite of an industry leading 333MB per platter, the new drives still
end up a bit chubby, and both are 12.5mm thick, making them unsuitable
for most notebook designs. The pricing will also drive away most
punters, as the 1TB drive costs $249 and the 750GB model will set you
back $189.
You can expect the drives to show up in WD My Passport external drive series.
