Bank robbery ends up on Twitter, live
Held up customer tweets during the heist
During a bank robbery, one of the best things to do is to shut up, hit the deck and pray you don't end up a hostage or worse. However, some people obviously have other priorities, like Annemarie Dooling, who kept sending tweets about the event as the robber was taking his share of the government's bailout money from the terrified tellers.
Dooling, a 26-year-old web producer, started posting her tweets as soon as the robbery started. "My bank was just held up - with me in it," said Dooling in her first tweet. She kept posting updates over the next hour, informing fellow microbloggers that the police had arrived, and that they were still not allowed to leave the bank, as New York's finest wanted to have a word with them.
One person that did leave the bank was the robber, who was apparently unarmed. He simply passed one of the tellers a note saying he wanted some cash, and got a bag full of it. However, he didn't get far, and Dooling says the coppers nabbed him just around the corner.
