Kingston sells HyperX to HP

by on25 February 2021

For a cool $425 million

In a rather surprising move, Kingston has announced that it has sold its HyperX, gaming-oriented peripherals division, to HP. The $425 million deal, which should be finalized in Q2 2021, will give HP the division as well as the brand.

In case you somehow managed to miss it, the Kingston HyperX division was focused on gaming headsets, keyboards, mice, and other peripherals, as well as PSUs, and probably had a big chunk of the gaming market.

Kingston is set to remain focused on the memory, flash, and SSD market, and we expect a new gaming-oriented Kingston brand to emerge when the deal is finalized.

On the other hand, this will give HP a strong presence in that market, and give its OMEN brand a decent push, bringing more products to the ecosystem.

Hopefully, this will not impact the HyperX division in any way, other than giving them a bigger budget and even increase its presence on the market.
