Google unveils $4.4 trillion energy plan

Wants to wean the US off Coal and Oil


A non-profit
organisation run by Google has unveiled a $4.4 trillion plan to cut the use of fossil fuels by 2030.

According to an online posting by Google’s climate and energy technology manager Jeffery Greenblatt Clean Energy 2030 is designed to provide "a potential path to weaning the U.S. off of coal and oil for electricity generation by 2030.

Greenblatt said that the plan would cost $4.4 trillion to implement, it could result in savings of $1 trillion over its 22-year span. Google has has invested in a number of companies developing alternative energy technologies, in part to develop more efficient ways to power the outfit’s many data centres.
