I erased emails on Democrat's orders

Computer technician, Leonard Luchko, has admitted wiping the emails of a powerful U.S. Democratic Senator claiming he was ordered to do so. Luchko pleaded guilty to conspiracy and obstruction of justice and agreed to testify.

Luchko, whose job was to manage computer services for Senator Vincent Fumo is the most threatening development to date in the Senator's corruption trial. Luchko told the court how, on Fumo's orders, in November 2003, he erased all e-mails among Fumo and his staff.

He enforced a Fumo ruling that Senate staffers were forbidden to save emails. The wiping of emails began just nine months after the FBI and IRS began their investigation of Fumo and his financial dealings.

Fumo, 65, a formidable legislative powerbroker for decades, is accused of defrauding the state Senate and two nonprofit organizations, misusing their employees and taking money for personal and political advantage. He is also charged with staging a cover-up to obstruct the FBI and IRS probes.
