8.9-inch model for less cash

MSI's more affordable version of the Wind PC has gone on retail in Taiwan and although there isn't much that differs from the 10-inch model, there seems to be a pretty nice price gap between the two models.

The Wind U100 retails for between €397-418 in Taiwan, while the U90 is available for €334. Both the U100 and U90 only come with a 3-cell battery, so it's not like there's any advantage of getting one in Taiwan.

The 8.9-inch screen still offers a 1,024x600 resolution and it comes with an 80GB hard drive and the same Atom N270 processor, 945GME chipset and 1GB or DDR2 memory. The only other difference we could spot was the fact that MSI has downgraded the Webcam to a 0.3Megapixel model compared to a 1.3Megapixel camera on the U100.

We're not sure when or if MSI is planning to launch this model in Europe and the U.S., but the price of the new model is at least quite attractive, despite the smaller screen.
