It seems as if Asus isn't doing as well with its Eee PC netbooks as they'd hoped, at least not according to Digitimes who claims that Asus has shipped 300,000 units less than they'd planned to. Still, 1.7 million Eee PC have been shipped in the first half of this year, which doesn't sound too bad to us.

Asus is till expecting to reach its target of five million Eee PC's by the end of the year, although we're not quite sure how they intend to hit this target, considering that the competition is starting to get fierce now with both MSI and Acer shiping competing solutions and other players launching their models soon.

To us it seems like Asus has too many different models of the Eee PC which is just causing confusion for potential customers and our guess is also that a lot of people have been waiting for the larger Eee PC models to appear.

According to the same article, Digitimes says that Acer is expecting to be able to ship 15,000 Acer One's per week. The Windows XP based 120GB Acer One will come with a six cell battery and an expected retail price of around €350. There will also be models of the Acer One with built in 3G connectivity and Acer is in talks with various network providers in Europe which could end in special promotional bundles.
