Appears on Asus' website

The Eee PC 904 has finally made an official appearance on Asus' website and although there isn't much we didn't already know about this "new" Eee PC, it does look like this will be Asus' weapon against Acer's Aspire One.

The 904 will be available with either Linux or Windows XP and as reported earlier, Asus has reverted back to using the Celeron M processor found in the original Eee PC 701. This might seem like an odd move, but we can only guess that Asus is getting a better deal from Intel buying these over the Atom, or it's simply that there's such a limited supply of Atom processors that Asus decided to make a new SKU based on a more available CPU.

With the chassis of the Eee PC 1000 and an 8.9in screen with 1,024x600 resolution and an 80GB hard drive, it looks like a step backwards in more than one way, although we can only hope that the 904 will go back to the roots of the Eee PC range and offer good value for money once more.

It will also have up to 2GB of RAM, 802.11b/g WiFi, a 1.3Megapixel webcam, a 6-cell battery (which is good news) with up to 5h battery life according to Asus and it will weigh in at 1.4kg which is a fair bit heavier than the 1kg or there about weight we've come to expect from this type of devices. It will also be available in either black or white.
