Updated: Atom and 8GB SSD for €329

Updated: We previously reported the 399 list price of the A110L, however retailers have changed the price to 329, while the A150X is priced at 399. Some retailers expect it in stock within 3-4 weeks.

Acer
has joined the Eee lynch mob with its Acer Aspire One A110L. Its first netbook is powered by a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, it has 512MB of memory and an 8GB SSD. Basically, in many ways it's half way between the Eee 701 and MSI's Wind.

It's slightly smaller and lighter than the Wind, weighing in at 0.99kg and packing a LED backlit 8.9-inch 1024x600 screen. It uses a 3-cell battery and, like the Eee, it ships with Linux rather than XP. Interestingly, it seems to have a 5-in-1 card reader alongside a separate SD card slot. The extra SD slot is a nice addition, as you'll be able to squeeze some extra storage using an SD card and leaving the card reader free for use.

The touchpad layout seems a bit odd, but the Aspire One looks great. It will arrive in blue or white color schemes and more colors will probably follow soon, but it looks quite classy as it is, especially in blue. It's much more stylish than the Eee, although the piano black plastic on the screen bezel will probably be a mess to clean.

There are some downsides, as well. The first couple of retailers to list the Aspire One claim it will be available in no less than 7 weeks. If they're right, this means it will hit European retail in early August, long after the Wind and Eee 900 become available. It is priced at €329, a full 70 euro less than the Celeron-based Eee 900.
