To be supervised by Michael Bay himself

As we told you yesterday, Paramount/DreamWorks has now confirmed that Transformers will be making its way to Blu-ray on 9/2. Since our story yesterday, however, more details have now become a bit clearer.

Transformers: Special Edition for Blu-ray will include pretty much all of the features that were previously released on the HD DVD version. This will include the heads-up display option! The disc will also feature BD-Live features that will be announced at a later time.

All of the extras for the Transformers: Special Edition on Blu-ray will be in HD. While we were hopeful for Paramount/DreamWorks to include DTS audio with this new edition, this is not to be; but the disc will feature Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital Plus 5.1, Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and Uncompressed PCM 5.1.

Michael Bay himself will be participating and supervising the new Blu-ray video encode for the Blu-ray version. Beyond his supervision of the production of the disc, we not yet sure what additional surprises he might have in store for the Blu-ray version.

We suspect that more details will be coming to light soon as things get further sorted out on the production of the disc. We still can’t confirm if the Blu-ray version will be a single dual layer Blu-ray disc or a two disc set, as the HD DVD version was.
