71 percent software stolen

Peru's IT
economy seems to be built on software piracy, according to a survey by the Business Software Alliance.

A survey of businesses shows that 71 percent of software was stolen and 75 percent of SMEs used hot software. The BSA said that based on those figures software companies lost euro 48 million in 2007.

Peru has been pressured by the International Community to bring in new intellectual-property-rights laws and these will be in force by 2009.
