This is not repeat from the 11th Century

An Islamic hacker group has been attacking major banks run by the Great Satan. PNC, Bank of America, and SunTrust have all suffered site slowdowns, outages after threats of DDoS attacks from the hacker group.

The Islamic extremist hacker group Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters is claiming responsibility for all the attacks. The same group did similar attacks in autumn to protest against a controversial YouTube video that mocked the prophet Mohammed. PNC revealed on its Facebook page this afternoon that "some customers are experiencing slowness or difficulty accessing online and mobile banking."

The Bank of America's site was experiencing intermittent accessibility issues. Fox Business said it was testing the bank site via multiple computer networks and found it was either slow to load to entirely inaccessible for a while. SunTrust experienced intermittent outages. Most of the attacks are high-volume flood assaults but there have been a few more intricate application layer attacks.
