The company will be integrated into Cisco's service provider networking group unit, and never be seen again, said Cisco. California-based Cariden supplies network planning, design and traffic management software for telecommunications service providers.
It is the third acquisition that Cisco has splashed out on this month. Earlier this month Cisco said it will buy privately held cloud networking company Meraki for $1.2 billion in cash as part of its cloud and networking strategy. The company seems to think there is a lot of money to be made building cloud structures, although this buy out appears to be a return to its telecommunications stomping ground.
