iPhone 5 jailbroken

Took eight hours

Any thoughts that the iPhone 5 might be more secure than its predecessors might have been disproved already. A San Francisco hacker says he has cracked the new iPhone 5, less than eight hours after people cued for the new toy.

Grant Paul, who develops software for Apple's iOS operating system, posted photos on Twitter showing a 'jailbroken' iPhone 5. According to Next Web he got it running Cydia, an app available only on hacked devices. Jobs' Mob does not think anyone should use Cydia because it allows them to install software from outside the Walled Garden of Delights.

Much was made of the fact that the iPhone 5 runs on Apple's new iOS 6 operating system, which does not have the same security flaws as previous versions of the software. However it seems that this one just had new flaws waiting to be exploited. The development means that there should be jailbreaking software online soon.
