Impossible Studios opened by Epic

Out of the ashes of Big Huge Games

Epic Games has confirmed the opening of its new Maryland studio called Impossible Studios. Impossible, which is located in Hunt Valley, Maryland, is being led by Sean Dunn and staffed by the former team members of Big Huge Games.

Big Huge Games was acquired by 38 Studios and were the developers of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, until it was closed by 38 when the developer went bust. Epic decided to try and help the former Big Huge Games employees land on their feet by opening the new studio; and apparently the company had been looking at adding an additional studio anyway, so the timing was right.

First up for Impossible will be to work on the action role-playing iOS title Infinity Blade: Dungeons, which is being developed in conjunction with both Epic and Chair. The primary development, however, will be based in Impossible’s facility in Maryland.
