A hacker
with the code name Porkythepig has released an attack code that can brick any HP laptop.

The code is based on his discovery last week that there are a pair of vulnerabilities in an ActiveX control used by HP's Software Update, the patch management program bundled with virtually every HP laptop. The Software Update bugs let an attacker corrupt Windows' kernel files, making the laptop unbootable.

The release of the code is part of a campaign by Porkythepig, who last week released details of multiple flaws in other software included with HP's portables. HP has since patched the vulnerabilities.
