Radio 4 finds penis pill spammer

British Radio 4
journalist, Simon Cox, tracked down a spammer who was selling penis enlargement pills in New Zealand where he seemed to have eluded police investigators.

Cox tracked down the Elite Herbal website, which is ranked by the Internet monitoring organization, Spamhaus, as the world's biggest spammer. Rather than trying to track the e-mails, Cox bought the product with his credit card and followed the transaction to an Indian Website.

Meanwhile, Henrik Uffe Jensen, an IT consultant from Denmark, also requested the pills but installed a hidden piece of software in the order form which found the IP address of Elite Herbal. Together with Cox they found out that the spammer's computer was in Christchurch, New Zealand, and Vodafone was the ISP. They contacted the spammer, who denied everything, but the case was referred to the New Zealand police.

The New Zealand Internal Affairs Department's anti-spam unit executed four search warrants simultaneously, seizing 22 computers and boxes of documents from four Christchurch addresses.
