Intel
is set to steal even more market share in 2008 thanks to AMD losing the plot this year.

Research firm Gartner said that Intel will increase its share of the growing global semiconductor chip market this year to 12.2 per cent. The market will grow by just under three per cent to US$270.3 billion and Intel will be the main beneficiary.

So far, Intel has been growing on the back of fast laptop chip sales. Other rivals such as Toshiba were expected to increase by 28 percent but Texas Instruments, STMicroelectronics and Infineon were only going to slightly increase their revenue.
