Strong demand should equal increased revenue

Western Digital provided additional detailed update to its expected results for the first fiscal quarter of 2008. WD says that they expect revenue of between $1.6 billion to $1.65 billion.

WD recently completed the acquisition of Komag, Inc. and originally expected the Komag acquisition to be accretive to earnings by the first quarter of 2009, but they are now ahead of schedule and expect the crossover point to occur during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008, one quarter earlier than previously indicated.

WD notes a pick up in demand, product mix, and pricing as the prime factors that are leading to the improved outlook. WD continues to see a strong demand across all sectors of the data storage business, which should lead to higher revenue and profits for the company than initially projected.
