Microsoft has refreshed its Surface lineup with new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 processors. The company is continuing its ARM and AI push, focusing on better battery life, improved graphics performance, and stronger on-device AI features through dedicated NPUs.
Surface Pro keeps 13-inch 2-in-1 design, but gets higher GPU performance and 15.5h battery life
The new Surface Pro keeps the familiar 13-inch 2-in-1 design and comes with up to 53 percent faster graphics performance compared to the previous generation, according to Microsoft. Battery life is rated at up to 15.5 hours, while the system also gets a new 1440p Quad HD front camera with an ultrawide field of view. Buyers can choose between a standard LCD or an optional OLED display with deeper blacks and improved color accuracy.
The Surface Pro ships with 16 GB of RAM as standard and supports optional accessories like the updated Surface Pro Flex Keyboard and Slim Pen. Microsoft is offering the device in Platinum, Black, and a new Dune finish.
Surface Laptop comes in 13.8- and 15-inch versions, higher GPU performance, and better screen
The refreshed Surface Laptop comes in 13.8-inch and 15-inch versions and starts with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD storage. Microsoft claims up to 58 percent faster graphics performance over the previous generation while still delivering long battery life, with the 13.8-inch model rated for up to 20 hours and the 15-inch version up to 19 hours. The smaller 13.8-inch model adds a new Jade green color option alongside Platinum, Black, and Dune finishes.
The 15-inch Surface Laptop gets a more noticeable display upgrade this time around. Microsoft increased the pixel density from 201 PPI to 262 PPI, resulting in a much sharper panel than before. The display keeps its 3:2 aspect ratio and touchscreen support, while brightness and color accuracy have also been improved for creative workloads and media consumption. The larger model also features a wider keyboard deck, larger haptic touchpad, dual USB4/Thunderbolt ports, and Microsoft’s updated webcam system, which the company says remains one of the best laptop cameras on the market.
Microsoft also highlighted AI workloads, haptic feedback improvements, and repairability features. The new Surface systems include support for local AI processing alongside cloud-based AI tasks, while advanced haptics are now integrated into the touchpad and Slim Pen experience. The company also introduced a new Surface Repair Tool designed to simplify diagnostics and hardware repairs for components like batteries, displays, touchpads, and cameras.
Pricing starts at $1,499 for the new Surface Pro and $1,599 for the Surface Laptop lineup. The systems begin shipping on June 16, while business versions arrive on July 14.
