Teasing its new 10nm SoC
Judging by the latest teaser, Qualcomm will reveal more information on its 10nm Snapdragon 835 SoC at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in Las Vegas, kicking off on January 5th.
For one quad-core cluster
Huawei's own Kirin 960 SoC, which powered both the Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro smartphones, was quite a piece of tech but the upcoming Kirin 970 will be even more impressive, with cores running as high as 3.0GHz.
Fully integrated solution in Q1 2017
Nvidia has already announced that its integrated automotive solution won the hearts of Tesla and Volvo, while Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 820A for automotive in early 2016. Now MediaTek has announced a plan to bring holistic, fully integrated system solutions to the automotive industry beginning in Q1 2017.
From the house of TSMC in 2017
The Kirin 960 is a 16nm SoC, that powered the Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, and is quite powerful, but it seems that Huawei plans a Kirin 970 SoC made using the 10nm FinFET manufacturing process and with obviously faster performance at lower energy consumption.
Addition to Helio X20 and X25
MediaTek has announced two more Helio X20 series products - a Helio X27 and an X23 and as you can figure out from the names, Helio X27 is faster than the X25 while X23 is a bit slower.
Snapdragon 660 with A73+A53
Qualcomm has already revealed that Snapdragon 835 is officially the world’s first 10nm SoC, and Fudzilla exclusively posted this in April 2016. At that time, Qualcomm didn't want to officially talk about the insides of the Snapdragon 835, but a leaked roadmap claims that the new SoC has 4+4 cores based on updated Kryo 200 architecture.
CPUs and GPUs are on 14/16 nm
Keith Kressin, a Qualcomm senior vice president, product management, reminded us how the world changed in the last ten years and that the mobile industry leads the transition to smaller manufacturing nodess. With Snapdragon 835 being the first 10nm, the mobile SoC with Qualcomm on helm takes the lead beating CPU and GPU industry to a new manufacturing node.
Powering Huawei's newest 5.9-inch phone
Huawei’s new Mate 9 is a 5.9-inch phablet that comes with with a Full HD screen and Kirin 960 SoC, featuring 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, micro SD card and the Mali-G71 MP8 GPU.
