States Nvidia VP of Investor Relations

Last week Nvidia's Vice President of Investor Relations Rob Csongor talked at the Barclays Global Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference and among other things he mentioned the Shiled console and Tegra 4.

According to the transcript from Seeking Alpha, Shield is now up for preorder and the mass availability of this device is expected in a couple of months.

“This is now being preordered and availability of this device is in August,” he said.

Tegra 4 is showing its face in very late Q2 with a few announcements including the HP Slatebook as well as Nvidia Shield, but we expected to see Shield shipping in Q2 2013 (end of June 2013) with some serious quantities shipping as of July.

It looks like that these plans have been pushed back by at least one month. We expect to see more Tegra 4 announcements at Comptex next week in Taiwan, but again vendors will start shipping them in Q3 2013 or July and onward.

US and Canada are going to be the first to get it, with Europe and the rest of the world following. Shield is currently in pre order stage and apparently high end gamers are interested in this $349 console.

The detailed transcript is here.
