Could surpass it in notebook shipments soon

Acer is
going from strength to strength in recent months, and according to Digitimes, the outfit stands a good chance to overtake HP in notebook shipments over the next few months.

The top Taiwanese PC vendor is closing the gap in shipments, which has shrunk to just 0.5 percent to 110,000 units in Q2. HP managed to ship 4.86 million units in Q2, with Acer breathing down its neck with 4.75 million units.

Acer is doing quite well in the netbook market, and its thin-and-light Timeline and Travelmate series could also help sales. HP on the other hand is still stronger in the business market.
