In a desperate bid to interest children in lessons, Japanese teahcers are introducing the Nintendo DS.
The plan has been so successful that in one Tokyo classroom students are coming for extra-curricular maths lessons each Saturday morning.
The game machine has been used in lessons in English where students can look at, hear and write an English word at the same time. With conventional flash cards.
It has been used for testing and the teacher can see real-time which of the children are making mistakes. There are plans to extend the scheme across Osaka.
