In an interview with PCWorld at CES 2026, Eddie Lin, Gigabyte CEO, said that Gigabyte is thinking about making a handheld gaming device but that the company wants to focus on a unique product that will stand out.
With Asus, Lenovo, MSI, and others trying to grab their piece of the gaming handheld market, it does not come as a surprise that Gigabyte is also considering jumping on that same train.
When asked about a Gigabyte handheld gaming device during CES 2026, which will most likely end up as a part of Gigabyte’s gaming-oriented AORUS brand, Eddie Lin, CEO of Gigabyte, said that building such a device is not that hard, as many Chinese makers are already doing it. The real question, according to Lin, is how to differentiate such a device in an already crowded market and focus on “how to make it stand out”.
It is quite hard to innovate or bring new features in the handheld gaming market, and while some makers brought some new features and launched their own devices, Valve is still reigning supreme with its Steam Deck.
Gigabyte had several interesting gaming-oriented laptops and other devices under its AORUS brand, so it might surprise us with an interesting gaming handheld as well. As Videocardz.com pointed out, Gigabyte should focus on bringing a simple device that works well and has a reasonable price that could make it a mainstream option.
