Acer has unveiled the Predator Atlas 7, a smaller gaming handheld built around Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme processor and Arc B390 graphics.
According to TweakTown the new machine trims the display from the eight-inch panel used in the Predator Atlas 8 to a seven-inch FHD touchscreen. It still runs at 120Hz with variable refresh rate support and covers 100 per cent of the sRGB colour gamut.
Acer’s larger Predator Atlas 8 uses an 8-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) panel with 500-nit brightness. The smaller Atlas 7 is aimed at buyers who prefer something less likely to require its own luggage allowance.
Performance should remain close to that of the larger model because the Atlas 7 can use the same Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor with integrated Arc B390 graphics. Acer will also offer a standard Arc G3 version, although the company has not detailed the performance gap between the two processors.
The Arc B390 has already shown enough grunt to run modern games such as Forza Horizon 6 at 1080p with high or ultra settings when XeSS 3 is involved. Memory configurations stretch to 24GB of LPDDR5X, while storage tops out at 1TB using a PCIe Gen 4 NVMe drive.
Cooling comes from Acer’s custom Predator AeroBlade arrangement, featuring an 89-blade metal fan with blades measuring just 0.1mm thick. A secondary fan and what Acer calls “Vortex Flow tuning” handle the rest of the airflow, because apparently moving hot air around now requires branding.
The Atlas 7 can be equipped with an 80Wh battery, which is substantial for a seven-inch handheld and should help offset the demands of the Arc hardware and 120Hz panel.
Controls include TMR joysticks intended to resist stick drift, Hall-effect analogue triggers and programmable rear buttons. The display gets Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for durability and an anti-glare treatment intended to make portable gaming less dependent on finding a suitably gloomy corner.
Like the Atlas 8, the new handheld runs Windows 11 and comes with Xbox Game Pass integration. Acer has not announced pricing or availability yet, although the Predator Atlas 7 product page is already live.
