Could give Kindle Fire a run for its money

Barnes & Noble has spilled the beans on its upcoming Nook Tablet and judging by the spec sheet, it might give Amazon’s Kindle Fire a run for its money.

The new Nook features a 7-inch IPS screen with a 1024x600 resolution, much like the Kindle Fire, but it packs a faster 1.2GHz dual-core OMAP4 processor, more memory (1GB vs. 512MB) and twice the storage, 16GB vs. 8GB to be exact.

It also has a microSD slot in case you need some extra storage and in terms of dimensions, it’s pretty close to the Kindle Fire, just marginally bigger, but it’s also lighter.

Barnes & Noble’s asking price is $249, or $50 more than the Kindle Fire. All things considered, it seems to be well worth the extra fifty bucks.

You can check out some photos and a full spec sheet at Engadget.
