J2900 quads, passive cooling

ASRock has introduced two new motherboards based on Intel's BayTral-D silicon. The ASRock Q2900-ITX is a mini-ITX design, while the Q2900M is a standard mATX motherboard.

Both boards are based on the Celeron J2900 processor. The SoC is clocked at 2.41GHz and it can hit 2.66GHz on Turbo. The chip features Intel HD Graphics clocked at 688MHz, but the GPU can boost to 896MHz. Both boards are passively cooled.

The more spacious Q2900M mATX board features one PCIe x16 slot and two PCIe x1 slots. The mini-ITX board has a single PCIe x1 slot. The differences don't end there. The Q2900-ITX has two USB 3.0 ports and 7.1 audio, while the mATX board has a single USB 3.0 port and stereo audio. Both boards feature VGA, DVI and HDMI outputs, along with Ethernet and legacy PS/2 ports.

Basically the mITX board is geared towards home users and content consumption, while the mATX version is for office use. There's no word on pricing or availability yet, but similar boards tend to go for $50+, or €50+ in Euroland.
