by on19 July 2012

8 SATA 6Gb/s ports

AMD Richland is the new hope for AMD, it’s a 28nm APU that comes in 2013 and brings quite a few new features to the table.

We got some information about the chipset that goes hand in hand with Richland APU and currently it is codenamed Bolton FCH. This chipset has support for up to 8 SATA 6Gb/s devices, along with 4 USB 3.0 and 14 USB 2.0 ports.

Bolton D4 is the higher end version of the chipset that will come with RAID 0/1/5 and 10 support and only PCIe 4X will find its place there. Good news for graphics users is support Crossfire dual graphics and it will also allow you to match discrete graphics that will be compatible with Richland APU graphics.

The packaging choice for this chipset 656 FCBGA and it dissipates 7.8W TDP just as much as currently available AMD A75.
