The Rampage IV Formula and micro-ATX Rampage Gene

In addition to the full X79 lineup officially launched together with Sandy Bridge E, Asus is apparently preparing two more that will be a part of Asus' Republic of Gamers series and be based on the same chipset, the Rapage IV Formula and the Rampage IV Gene.

As you already know, Asus has already launched a total of six motherboards based on Intel's X79 Express chipset including the P9X79 series, Asus' TUF Sabertooth X79 and the Rampage IV Extreme motherboard. According to a post over at SweClockers, it looks like Asus will introduce two more Republic of Gamers X79 motherboards pretty soon, including the quite interesting micro-ITX Rampage IV Gene.

Details regarding the Rampage IV Gene are vague and all that is known so far is that the motherboard is apparently coming as it was detailed on the slide for Asus internal partners. The Rampage IV Formula is a different story and this one is based on a standard ATX form factor and has slightly less features when compared to the Extreme, but of course it should be a bit cheaper as well.

Unlike the Extreme, Formula has fewer memory slots, two on each side of the socket, has 11-phase Digi+ VRM for the CPU, packs a total of four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots that can work in either 2x16 or 4x8 depending on the usage and two PCI-Express x1 slots. The rest of the features include a total of six USB 3.0 ports (two via header) a total of four SATA 6.0Gbps ports, four SATA 3.0Gbps and two eSATA ports, integrated Asus SupremeFX III audio with X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity, EAX HD 5.0 and THX TruStudio Pro, as well as a bunch of ROG features including ROG Connect, ROG Flashback, ROG Gamefirst, XSocket, TweakIT, Voltiminder, on board OC switches, and of course, power, CMOS and Reset buttons. The one that caught our eye is the new XSocket feature that lets you use any LGA1366 cooler on this one.
